Nafziger, Maurice Earl
, 88, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died May 14, 2015 at the same place. He was born April 25, 1927 to Alfred J. and Ruth (Eicher) Nafziger. On May 29 1949 he was married to Dorothy A. Christner, who was born January 7 1926 and died January 15, 2009.

Surviving are children, Ed (Carmilla) Nafziger ; Ken (Rhonda) Nafziger; Annette Erbskorn; and Darlette (David) Cavin; 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Clifford Nafziger, Chester Nafziger, and Freeman Nafziger preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held May 18, 2015 at Tedrow Mennonite Church, Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, Fulton Co., OH.

Naylor, Stanley F.

May 29, 1932 - Nov. 8, 2015

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Stanley F. Naylor, 83, of Bluffton, died peacefully at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Mennonite Memorial Home.

He was born May 29, 1932, in Goshen, Ind., to Wilbur J. and Deltha (Metzler) Naylor.

The family moved to Nappanee, Ind., where he grew up and graduated from high school in the class of 1950. He graduated from Bluffton College (University) in 1954 with a business degree. On Sept. 25 of that same year, he married Ruth E. (Bundy) Naylor. They spent the next two years in alternative service at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

For 10 years they lived in Fort Wayne, Ind., where Stan worked as a general office services manager at Mutual Security Life Insurance Company and was instrumental in helping to plant the Maplewood Mennonite Church, which included serving as co-chair of the building committee.

In 1968, Stan was invited to serve as financial aids manager at Bluffton College. He later worked at Triplett Corp. as advertising manager and product manager. In 1984 he opened his own business as a personal financial planner with IDS (later Ameriprise), where he earned master financial planner status. Due to chronic illness, he retired in 2002.

He was a member of the BU Athletic Hall of Fame, with recognition in track and football, and he enjoyed membership in the president's club. He was a longtime member of Bluffton Lions Club, having served as president as well as on many other committees. He received the Melvin Jones award and, on the lighter side, he particularly enjoyed flipping pancakes at their annual fundraisers.

He served on the board of Bluffton Child Development Center as director of finance, and was a past president of Bluffton Family Recreation Inc. An active member of Bluffton's First Mennonite Church, he served on various stewardship and finance committees.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years; their daughter, Kimberly Anne McCullough of Bluffton; their son and daughter-in-law, Geoffrey Alan and Nancy Naylor of Ligonier, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Karen McCullough, Kristen (Ryan) McCullough Niekamp, Ben (Megan) McCullough, Sam (Julie) McCullough, Joshua (Pam) Naylor, Jacob (Ashley) Naylor and Natasha (Corey) Naylor Kern; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lew (Belle Duerksen) Naylor of Goshen, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at First Mennonite Church in Bluffton, with Pastors Wanda Stopher and Steve Yoder officiating. Interment will be later in the family plot in South Union Cemetery, just north of Nappanee.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Home in Bluffton, and two hours prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Stanley F. Naylor Scholarship at Bluffton University, or to the Deacons' Fund at First Mennonite Church.

Neff, Eugene M. "Gene"
, age 73, of Christiana, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was the husband of Betty Denlinger Neff.

Born in Quarryville, he was the son of the late Leon H. and Virginia E. Hostetter Neff. Gene was a member of Old Road Mennonite Church. He worked as a plumber for CMC Inc. in Gap, retiring after 46 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 3 children: Kimberly, wife of Keith Shoenberger of Lancaster; Krista, wife of George Budzik III of Parkesburg; Keith, husband of Emily Weik Neff of Ephrata. He is also survived 12 grandchildren: Erica, Ashley, Kyra Shoenberger, Justin, Joshua, Gavin, Nicole Budzik, Macy, Micah, Cameron, Eli, Luke Neff, and 4 siblings: Charlotte, wife of Titus Yoder of Smoketown; Delmar, husband of Nancy Stutzman Neff of Ronks; Cindy, wife of Jay Sauder of New Holland; and Donella, wife of Clair King of Cochranville.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, January 13th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Old Road Mennonite Church, 5795 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap with Pastors Richard Buckwalter, Scott Elkins, and Dale Hostetter officiating. Interment will be private prior to the service. There will be a time to greet the family on Tuesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Nelson, Frances Mardelle Mont
, 84, of Hopedale, Illinois died December 14, 2015 at Eagle Point, Oregon. She was born August 19, 1931 at Bloomington, IL to Harold and Mary Mont. On November 11, 1950 she was married to Robert Eugene Nelson, who died July 21, 2006.

Surviving are a son, Dwight Eugene Nelson.

Frances was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church since 1957. She was very active in the church as a custodian, bible school teacher, participated in WMSC, Tazewell County Homemakers Extension, served as a Cub Scout den mother.

Frances Mardelle Nelson, 84, of 329 Bradley Way, Eagle Point, Ore, passed away peacefully the evening of Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at her home. She was born Aug. 19,1931, at Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington to Harold and Mary Mont of Hopedale. She attended grade school at Shiloh Country School and Hopedale High School. She married Robert Eugene Nelson Nov. 11, 1950, and he preceded her in death. The couple lived in the Hopedale area and had one son, Dwight Eugene Nelson of Gold Hill, Ore. Frances was a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church since 1957. She was very active in the church and worked as one of the church custodians and served as Bible School Teacher; participated in the WMSC and Tazewell County Homemakers Extension; served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and many other community and church events. Graveside services to be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 S. 12th St., PO Box 500, Akron, PA 17501-0500.

Neufeld, Ernest Wiens
, 82 years, 10 months, 1 day, of Mountain Lake, Cottonwood Co., Minnesota died April 13, 2015 at the same place from cancer, complicated by Huntington's Disease.

He was born June 12,1932 at Chicago, Illinois to John Toews and Catherine Rachel (Wiens) Neufeld. John was born June 22, 1895 and died July 13, 1961. Catherine was born June 18, 1899 and died November 24, 1984.

On August 31, 1958 at Mountain Lake he was married to Lila Mae Penner, who was born June 20, 1933 and survives.

Surviving are children, Randy Neufeld (Susan Geil), Laurel (Paul) Neufeld Weaver, Sheryl (Rodney) Fast, and Rachel (Albrecht) Neufeld-Schultze; ten grandchildren, a sister, Edith (Steve) Michalovic, and a brother-in-law Robert Coon.

Three sisters, Esther (Jack) Kressly, Elvina (Rudy) Martens, and Helen Coon preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held April 20, 2015 at First Mennonite Church, Mountain Lake, MN with burial in Mountain Lake City Cemetery, Mountain Lake, MN.

Ernest Neufeld age 82, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, died on April 13, 2015, at his home in Mountain Lake.

Memorial Service will be held at First Mennonite Church-Mountain Lake, on Monday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Pastor Elaine Kauffman.
Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015.

Ernest W. Neufeld was born June 12, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to John T. and Catherine (Wiens) Neufeld. Ernest grew up in the Windy City and graduated from Kelly High school in 1950. Ernest loved the diversity of city life and sought out opportunities to serve others. He began preparing for the ministry by attending Bluffton College in Bluffton, OH, (graduating class of '54) and continuing at Bethany Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana.

Pastor Ernie as he was known by many, served in Mennonite congregations in Summerfield, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Allentown, PA; Phoenix, AZ; Freeman, SD; Fargo, ND and Philadelphia, MS. He served for eight years as Northern District Conference Minister.

Grandpa Ernie loved his children and grandchildren and shared his love of trains, sports, radios and thrift stores. He enjoyed volunteering at Care and Share, Heritage Village, and hospice in Mountain Lake, MN.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and sisters, Esther (Jack) Kressly , Elvina (Rudy)Martens, and Helen Coon.

Ernest is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Lila (Penner), his sister, Edith (Steve) Michalovic, and a brother-in-law, Robert Coon. His children, Randy (Susan Geil), Laurel Neufeld Weaver (Paul), Sheryl Fast (Rodney), Rachel Neufeld- Schultze (Albrecht). His ten grandchildren, Erin Kerns (Jason), Jonah Geil-Neufeld, Jeremy Fast, Hannah Geil-Neufeld, Mitchell Fast, Justin Neufeld Weaver, Katelyn Fast, Ann-Katrin Neufeld-Schultze, Ana Neufeld Weaver, and Jan-Christoph Neufeld-Schultze.

Neufeld, Lilly Ann Regehr
, 87, of Inman, McPherson Co., KS died January 18, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge, KS. She was born July 28, 1927 to Jacob and Mary (Regehr) Regehr. On October 13,1950 at Inman, KS she was married to Herbert Walter Neufeld, who was born November 20, 1923 and died November 13, 2013.

Surviving are children, Joyce & Ron Price; Jane & Don Esau; and Ruth & Myron Goertzen; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and siblings, William & Maurine Regehr; David & Judy Regehr; and Evelyn & Ed Peters.

His siblings, Wilbur Regehr, Leo James Regehr, Ted Regehr, Eldo Regehr, and Mary Jane Regehr preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held January 25, 2015 at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, KS with burial in North Inman Cemetery, Inman, KS.

Newswanger, Alexis Hope

April 24, 2015 -April 25, 2015

WAKARUSA - Alexis Hope Newswanger, 1 day, of Wakarusa, died at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

She was born Friday, April 24, in South Bend, to Leon and Emma (Showalter) Newswanger.

Surviving are her parents, twin sister Aubree Faith Newswanger and paternal grandmother Bertha Newswanger, all of Wakarusa; maternal grandparents Lloyd and Rachel Showalter of Greenwood, Wis.; and a maternal great-grandmother, Vera Showalter of Harrisonburg, Va.

Preceding her in death was a paternal grandfather, Lester Newswanger.

Visitation will be for an hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, service at Pleasant Grove Conservative Mennonite Church, 13463 C.R. 38, Goshen. Pleasant Grove Ministry will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family for Aubree's hospital expenses.

Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home in Wakarusa is handling arrangements.

Newswanger, Amos Z.
, 86, of 2247 Little Hill Road, Narvon, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Mary.

Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Samuel and Lydia (Zimmerman) Newswanger. His wife, Sue Etta (Shirk) Newswanger, died June 22, 2001.

Amos was a farmer and a metal shop worker. He was also a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving are seven children, Mary S., married to Ivan B. Shirk of Narvon, Jonas S. Newswanger of Narvon, Esther S., married to Daniel K. Kilmer of Mohnton, Catherine S. Farren of Bridgewater, VA, Anna S., married to James O. Ringler of Neillsville, WI, Lucy S., married to Leroy R. Martin of Latham, MO, and Mark S., married to Martha N. (Martin) Newswanger of Narvon; 29 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two brothers, David, married to Mary Ann (Kulp) Newswanger of Fortuna, MO, and Reuben, married to Ella (Zimmerman) Newswanger of Shelby, OH; and two sisters, Lena Nolt of Fleetwood and Catherine Newswanger of East Earl.

Preceding him in death is a grandson, and four brothers, Wayne, Isaac, Phares, and Samuel Newswanger.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, at 9 a.m. at the late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at the Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. Newswanger, Derek Lynn, 3, of Newmanstown, PA, passed away from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Blair County, PA on Saturday, October 17, 2015. He was the son of Wesley L. Newswanger and the late Miriam M. Hurst Newswanger. He was born in Bethel Township, Lebanon County on November 19, 2011.

Surviving in addition to his father are sister, Bethany R. Newswanger at home; brother, Darren K. Newswanger, Martha W. Oberholtzer
, 84, of New Holland, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was the wife of Paul Z. Newswanger.

Born in Bareville, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Weaver) Oberholtzer.

Martha was a homemaker and a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

, 26, of Newmanstown, PA, passed away from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Blair County, PA on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was the wife of Wesley L. Newswanger. She was born in Earl Township, Lancaster County on December 29, 1988, a daughter of Mark W. and Kathryn M. Martin Hurst of Myerstown. She was a member of the Millbach Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

Surviving in addition to her parents and husband are children, Bethany R. Newswanger and Darren K. Newswanger both at home; paternal grandparents, Paul and Anna Mary Hurst of Ephrata; maternal grandparents, Ezra and Marian Martin of Myerstown; sisters, Anita Sauder and husband Sylvan of Myerstown; Rosalyn M. Hoover and husband Wilmer of Myerstown; Laura B. Hurst, Lucinda R. Hurst , Emily F. Hurst and Mary E. Hurst all at home; brothers, Mark Anthony Hurst and wife Rhoda of Womelsdorf; Cleason R. Nisely, John L.

April 12, 1917-Dec. 2, 2015

SHIPSHEWANA - John L. Nisely, 98, passed away peacefully at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Elkhart Hospice House, where he received excellent care.
He was born on April 12, 1917, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Levi and Mary (Borntrager) Nisly.

He married his wife and mother of his children Mary Catherine Plank in 1943. She died in 1992. He married Joan Revis in 1996. She died in 2012.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara (Bernard) Eash, Sturgis, Michigan, Judy (Marvin) Larue, New Carlisle, and Sheri (David) Nisely-Frazier, Noblesville; a son, David Nisely, Miami, Florida; a foster son, Carl (Julia) Brown, LaGrange; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Yoder, Hutchinson; two brothers, Fred Nisly and Raymond (Mary) Nisly both of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, two sisters, Elizabeth Bender and Emma Stutzman, and two brothers, Henry Nisly and Rufus Nisley.

John was a retired dairy farmer and a member of the LaGrange County Extension Conservation Service. He was an active member of Marion Mennonite Church since 1952. He volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Services, Menno Hof and with the Mennonite Central Committee including working with Ten Thousand Villages.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Marion Mennonite Church, 5460 North 450 West, Shipshewana. Family and friends may gather for a graveside service at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Shore Cemetery.
Following will be a celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. at Marion Mennonite Church.
Services will be conducted by Pastors Ron and Char Roth and Pastor Kenzie Intemann.

Nisley, Willis C.

Dec. 14, 1936 - Aug. 3, 2015

THREE RIVERS, Mich. - Willis C. Nisley, 78, of Three Rivers, died Monday, Aug. 3, in his residence.

He was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Goshen, Ind., to the late Cephas and Millie (Hostetler) Nisley.

Surviving are his children, Kenneth (Renee) Nisley of Wakarusa, Ind., Marion (Anne) Nisley of Nappanee, Ind., Tom Nisley of Sturgis and Sherry Lee of New Baltimore; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Laura) Nisley; and two sisters, Mary Anna Yoder of Etna Green, Ind., and Esther Nisley of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Nisley, and sister Fannie Mae Hochstetler.

He worked in the RV industry and was a carpenter.

TOPEKA - Crist D. Nissley, 82, of Topeka, died Sunday, April 26.

He was born March 17, 1933, to David and Mary (Troyer) Nissley.

On May 9, 1957, he married Fannie Mae Miller.

Surviving are four sons, David Wayne (Carolyn) Nissley of Topeka, Daniel Ray (Luetta) Nissley of Shipshewana, Freeman Jay (Ann) Nissley of Millersburg and LaVern (Dorene) Nissley of Goshen; four daughters, Clara Fern (Mervin) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Kathryn (Glen) Hochstetler of Millersburg, Rosemary (Nelson) Slabach of Millersburg and Dorothy (Olen) Yoder of Topeka; 48 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; sister Susie (Melvin) Miller of Topeka; and two stepsisters, Rosie (Levi) Eash of Topeka and Ruby Oliver of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Sarah Nissley, wife, grandson Mervin Hochstetler Jr. and sister Fannie Beechy.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Monday, April 27, and all day Tuesday, April 28, at 5850 W. 600 S., Topeka.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at 5430 W. 600 S., Topeka. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery.

GOSHEN - Vernon D. Nissley, 75, of Goshen, died at 5:06 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Elkhart General Hospital, where he was admitted Saturday, Feb. 7, after a brief illness.

Vernon was born July 6, 1939, in Nappanee, to Daniel and Sue (Schmucker) Nissley.

He married Lois Miller on Aug. 23, 1958. She preceded him in death Dec. 5, 2007.

Mr. Nissley served as a minister and missionary. In 1969 he and his wife moved to Donna, Texas, to do mission work in Mexico. He was the founder and operator of Gospel Missions Beyond the Border. Mr. Nissley retired in May 2014 and returned to Nappanee.

Surviving are his daughters, Charla Oveido of Conway, S.C., and Loreen (Stephen) Hostetler of Millersburg, Ohio; sons Laural (Geraldine) Nissley of Goshen, Vernon* Nissley of Elkhart and Cecil Nissley of Washington, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Ruby Nissley of La Jara, Colo., and Miriam (Cleo) Orendorf and Sue Ellen Nissley, both of Nappanee; brothers Homer (Betty) Nissley of South Bend, Lloyd (Gladys) Nissley of Silver Lake, Ira (Reinhilde) Nissley of Nappanee and Daniel Jr. (Miriam) Nissley of Lebanon, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Mattie Nissley of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Treva Yoder, and a brother, Melvin Nissley.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Bethel Conservative Church in Nappanee, where services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

, 88, of Rohrerstown PA died January 11, 2015 at Landis Homes, Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA from cancer.

He was born November 4, 1926 at Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA to Earl Harnish and Esther (Brubaker) Noll. Earl was born February 1, 1899 and died March 3, 1982. Esther was born March 18, 1900 and died April 19, 1969.

On March 6, 1948 at Lititz, PA he was married to Lois Arlene Hershey, who was born April 25, and died March 31, 2011.

Surviving are children, Jeanette Noll Bontrager, married to Herman Bontrager and Herbert Noll, married to Becky Thomas Noll; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert B. Noll and Donald B. Noll, married to Shirley Noll.

A brother, John B. Noll and a sister, Mary Jane Noll preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held January 17, 2015 at East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, Lancaster Co., PA with burial in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster Co., PA.

Nolt, Elmer N.
, 88, of Ephrata, formerly of Brecknock Twp., died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Fairmount Homes.

Born in Brecknock Twp., he was the son of the late Amos and Lizzie (Huber) Nolt. He was married 60 years on Oct. 9 to Ella S. (Shirk) Nolt.

Elmer worked 28 years (1943-1971) at Bollman Hat Factory in Adamstown. He was a member of the Pine Grove Church in Bowmansville and he enjoyed being a part time farmer.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Curtis Nolt of Denver, John, married to Anne (Good) Nolt of Reinholds, and Arden, married to Teresa (Gehman) Nolt of Denver; and four grandchildren, Clifton, Katlin, Jason, and Adam.

Preceding him in death is a grandson, Andrew; and two brothers, John and Abe.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 11 am at Pine Grove Church, 1194 Reading Road, PO Box 573, Bowmansville, PA 17507 with the Reverend Jonathan Yoder officiating. Interment will be in the Bowmansville Mennonite Cemetery. , 85, of Ephrata, formerly of Junction Road, Manheim, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Lincoln Christian Home. Her husband, Titus M. Nolt, preceded her in death in 2009. Born in East Earl Township, she was a daughter of the late David and Lena (Hurst) Newswanger. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clearview Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

Surviving are two children: Eugene N. Nolt of Colton, CA, and Mary Jane Musser, wife of Glenn, of Manheim; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Zimmerman and Kathryn Martin, and two brothers, Jacob and Raymond Newswanger.

Nolt, Philip E.
, 64, died Saturday evening, December 26, 2015 at Mount Joy Hospice and Community Care Center after a long illness. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Eby) Nolt with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage in August.

Born on Sept 3, 1951 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul M. and Mildred (Horst) Nolt.

He was a member and former elder of Groffdale Mennonite Church. In March of 2015, he retired from Goodville Mutual Casualty Company as Vice President of Information Services after 40 years of service. He graduated from Millersville University with a B.A. in Mathematics and also received a CPCU designation in 1995. He enjoyed family and church history, visiting Michigan lighthouses, all things soccer, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Melody N., wife of Timothy Althouse, Alexandria, VA, and Mindy C. Nolt, wife of Jared Hankee, Lancaster; Four grandchildren: Erin and Anna Althouse, Willow and Moselle Nolt Hankee; one brother: Steven, husband of Sharon Weaver Nolt, of New Holland; two sisters: Pauline, wife of Lloyd Weaver, of New Holland, and Jane, wife of Wilbur McMichael, of Lancaster; one sister-in-law, Shirley Nolt, of Paradise; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother David Nolt.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 10 am at Groffdale Mennonite Church, 168 N. Groffdale Rd., Leola PA 17540 with the Pastor Tom Eshleman officiating. , 85, of 226 Gristmill Road, New Holland, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at her home after declining health. Born in Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late John M. and Leah (Shirk) Nolt.

She was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference and worked as a seamstress for many years at local sewing factories.

Surviving are two sisters, Sue Etta Nolt and Leah S. Nolt both with whom she resided.

Preceding her in death are four sisters and three brothers, Ella Martin, Mary Nolt, Frances Buckwalter, Harvey Nolt, Emma Nolt, John C. Nolt, and Daniel Nolt.

WAKARUSA - Willis Irvin Nunemaker, 94, passed away at 6;30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Miller's Senior Living.

Nunemaker was born March 4, 1920, in Wakarusa to Carl and Mary (Dils) Nunemaker.

He married Miriam (Harter) Nunemaker March 8, 1941. She preceded him in death.

Also preceding him are his parents; wife; son, Ronald Nunemaker; daughter Sharon (Allen) Brooks; granddaughter Kari Nunemaker; and brother Ivan Nunemaker.

Surviving are his children, Paul (Melba) Nunemaker and Linda Nunemaker, both of Goshen; Lowell (Virginia) Nunemaker and Donald (Shirley) Nunemaker of Wakarusa; and Glenn (Jill) Nunemaker of Nappanee. Also surviving are his brother John (Doris) Nunemnaker of Goshen; daughter-in-law Jan Nunemaker of Wakarusa; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Willis worked as a farmer, and a seed corn and fertilizer dealer.

He was a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church in Wakarusa.

He enjoyed history, travelling, hunting and reading. He was known as a generous person and hard worker.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral home in Wakarusa, and one hour prior to 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, jan. 8 at Holdeman Mennonite Church in Wakarusa. Pastors Randy Detweiler and B.J. Leichty will officiate.

Burial will follow at Olive (East) cemetary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holdemnan Mennonite Church.

Oberholtzer, Alvin L.
, 84, of Ephrata, went home to his Lord Savior on November 4, 2015 in his home. Born in East Cocalico Township, he was the son of the late David G. Oberholtzer and Lydia G. (Martin*) Oberholtzer.

He was the loving husband of Orvilla H. Oberholtzer, with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage at the end of December.

Alvin attended Blue Ball Church of the Brethren, and worked as a truck driver for Hess Brothers Eggs, Victor Weaver and Summer's Trucking. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, hunting and listening to and playing bluegrass music. He loved spending time with his family and friends and made everybody feel welcome in his home.

In addition to his wife, Orvilla, Alvin is survived by three children: Carol Oberholtzer of Ephrata; Alvin S. Oberholtzer, Jr., husband of Lori, of Ephrata; and Steve C. Oberholtzer. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Danielle, Zachary, Bailey, Andrew and Joshua; and two sisters: Arlene L. Good wife of Amos Good of Reamstown and Janet L. Eberly of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Lorrie Ann; a brother: David, Jr.; and a sister: Janice L. Wenger.

MIDDLEBURY - Lewis E. "Lew" Otto, 90, of Middlebury, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at IU Health Goshen Hospital, after a brief illness.

He was born April 8, 1925, in Kokomo, to the late Fred and Nora (Bontrager) Otto.

On Nov. 27, 1947, in Middlebury, he married Katie Mast.

Survivors include his wife; children Ruth (Ronald) Freyenberger and Kenneth (Jane) Otto, both of Goshen, Darrell (Beth) Otto of Middlebury and Richard (Amy) Otto; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings Betty Yoder and Floyd Otto of Middlebury; and half sisters Martha (Elvie) Miller and Clara (Levi) Bontrager of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Edna, Fannie, Junior and Paul.

He was a charter member of Bonneyville Mennonite Church. He owned his own excavating business and was a former school bus driver for Middlebury Schools.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury.

She was born Nov. 13, 1929, in Fisher, Ill., to Roy and Mamie (Park) Cender.

On Nov. 20, 1949, she married Franklin D. Oyer. He died Nov. 15, 2014.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen (Verna) Oyer of Goshen, Stanley (Jane) Oyer of Middlebury and Kent Oyer of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Barbara) Cender of Brooksville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Kenneth Cender.

Mrs. Oyer moved to Goshen in 1963 from Joliet, Ill. She and her husband founded and owned Quality Glass Inc. from 1963 to 2007. She was a member of College Mennonite Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 5 p.m. funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Phil Waite will officiate. Family will meet at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, to go in procession to Violett Cemetery for burial.

GOSHEN - Verna Irene Oyer, 95, of Goshen, died Oct. 16.

She was born June 14, 1920, in Newton, Kan., to Noah and Siddie (King) Oyer. She lived in Hesston, Kan., and Goshen as a child. Verna lived most of her adult life in Huntington.

Verna was an artist, and taught art for many years in the Indiana public school system.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Oyer, and sister-in-law Carol Oyer, both of Goshen; nieces Rebecca Oyer of Lafayette, La., Kathryn Oyer of Goshen and Sarah (Mike Cerceo) Oyer of Seattle; nephew Tim Oyer of Boston; great-nieces and great-nephews Carrie (Eliot) Friesen-Meyers, Rachel (Jon) Gingrich, Anicka Oyer Meyers, Mia and Ben Cerceo and John and Noah Oyer; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephew Greta and Alexandra Friesen-Meyers and Owen Gingrich.

, 89, of Buhler, KS died March 6, 2015 at Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS from a massive stroke. She was born February 5, 1926 at Hooker, OK to C. D. and Susanna (Karber) Schroeder. On March 16, 1947 at Hooker, OK she was married to Irvin Albert Pauls, who was born June 21, 1922 and died June 13, 2006.

Surviving are children, Gaylene Van Horn and Shirely & Kim Grubbs; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two brothers, David Schroeder and William Schroeder.

, 86, left this earth for heaven on December 5th, 2015. She had arrived on September 16, [1929] in a Kansas farmhouse to Rachel and Albert Nisly. She had four older siblings- William, Enos, Alvin and Susie. Later Ruth and Daniel joined the family. When Irene was seven, her family moved to Kalona, Iowa. Then on to Oregon several years later.

Irene attended Eastern Mennonite College in Virginia and then went to teach at Belleville Mennonite School in Pennsylvania. There she met David Peachey and was married on August 26th, 1960. Being a dairy farmer's wife for the next 33 years, with a relocation to Colby, Wisconsin, required barn chores, fieldwork and homemaking.

They raised five children - Donnita, David married to Kathy, Sandra married to Randy, Jessica and Edwin married to Tracy. She has fifteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. David died in 1993. In 2004, Irene retired to North Carolina to be near family.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed many good friendships, reading, studying the Bible, watching birds and working in the garden or her flower beds. Irene was friendly and knew how to reach out to people in conversation and compassion.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 PM on Tues. at Jackson Funeral Service, Hendersonville. A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM on Wed. at United Covenant Mennonite Church, Etowah.

Peachey, Violet Harshberger

Sept. 23, 1940 - July 5, 2015

GOSHEN - Violet Peachey, 74, of Goshen, passed away early Sunday morning, July 5, at her home after a short illness.

She was born in Goshen on Sept. 23, 1940, to Leo and Viola (Kauffman) Harshberger.

On Oct. 7, 1961, she married Robert J. Peachey in Goshen. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Steve) Vail of Millersburg; two grandchildren, Brock (Brook) and Brett Vail; three great-grandchildren, Shyan, Sophia and Tessa; and two sisters, Mary Louise Jones of White Cloud, Mich., and Jane (Elva) Yoder of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Rodney A. Peachey, and a brother, Raymond Harshberger.

A lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Peachey was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church. She had served as president of Chamberlin Elementary School's PTO and worked as a nurse's aide for 17 years. She also helped with her husband's business, Harshberger Insulation, and was an Amish taxi driver.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and easily made friends across the country while taxiing Amish. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft and from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Thursday at Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

Burial will follow in Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorials may be directed to Center for Hospice Care.

Penner, Gustav Adolph
, 89, of Reedley, Fresno Co., CA died April 25, 2015 at the same place. He was born May 4, 1925 at Wasco, CA to Adolph G. and Anna S. (Janzen) Penner. On December 28, 2002 he was married to Mary L. Bartlett, who was born January 22, 1928 and survives.

Surviving are children, Herbert (Patricia) Penner; David (Carol) Penner; daughter-in-law Jenny Penner; step-son Dan Tatum (Virginia); and stepson Nathan Tatum (Laurie); 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.

First wife, Mary "Joyce" Gehrer, and a son, Peter Penner preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held May 1, 2015 at First Mennonite Church, Reedley, CA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

MIDDLEBURY - Eric Kylon Petersheim, stillborn son of Larry O. and Susan (Lehman) Petersheim, of Middlebury, was delivered at 4:24 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

Survivors in addition to his parents are a brother, Arliss Lynn Petersheim at home; grandparents Orva (Edith) Petersheim of Topeka and Mervin (Effie) Lehman of Fresno, Ohio; and great-grandmother Fannie Stutzman of Topeka.

The family will hold funeral services Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Steven Lehman residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Dean Gingerich and the home ministers of the Old Order Amish Church. Burial will be in Ivans Cemetery, Middlebury. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is in charge of arrangements.

Petre, Lawrence Nathaniel
, 82, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Avante Nursing Home. Mr. Petre was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Hagerstown, Md., and was a son of the late Paul Russel and Elizabeth (Horst) Petre.

Lawrence was a member of Bank Mennonite Church. He owned and operated Petre's Potato Chip Factory for many years. He also owned an auto body shop and operated printing presses for several different companies. On May 12, 1954, he married the former Norma Heatwole, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Lawrence is survived by three children, Daniel L. Petre and wife, Rosetta, of Macon, Miss., Geraldine R. Nissley and husband, Laural, of Goshen, Ind., and Eldon R. Petre and wife, Mary Ellen, of Dayton; brothers, Merlin Petre of Stateline, Pa., and Wesley Petre of Hagerstown, Md.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvert Petre and Leonard Petre (infant).

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Bank Mennonite Church with John Hartzler, Daniel Miller, Linden Rhodes, Nathan Horst and Phillip Wenger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bank Mennonite Church. Arrangements entrusted to the McMullen Funeral Home.

Petre, Rhoda Risser Diller, 80, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Thursday June 25, 2015 at her home.

Born November 10, 1934 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Amos H. and Fannie (Risser) Diller.

She was a member of Stouffers Mennonite Church of Greensburg, MD.
She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Aldus H. Petre, six sons, Samuel, Seth, Jason, Jesse, James and Asa, three daughters, Sarah (Petre) Hege, Julia and Adah Petre, forty-eight grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two grandsons.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 10:00 am at Stouffers Mennonite Church with the Stouffers Ministry officiating. Burial will be in Stouffers Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday June 29, 2015 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the church and Tuesday June 30, 2015 from 9-10am before the service

Plank, Roy Stanley

Jan. 17, 1922 - Nov. 18, 2015

GOSHEN - Roy Stanley Plank, 93, went to meet his Lord on Wednesday morning, Nov. 18, at Greencroft Healthcare, where he had been the past two years.

He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Imlay City, Mich., to Ira and Laura (Kanagy) Plank.

On March 20, 1947, he married Mildred Norris in Bremen, Ohio. After her death he married Velma (Nisly) Nisly on Dec. 20, 1975.

She survives along with two daughters, Vera (Herbert) Reed of Greenbelt, Md., and Roberta Moore of Harrisonburg, Va.; a son, Stephen (Susan) Plank of Wakefield, Va.; six stepdaughters, Elnora (Eugene) Miller of Goshen, Loretta (Ervin Jr.) Wengerd of Batesburg, S.C., Regina Beiler of Goshen, Sharon (Arlo) Schmidt of Knox, Karen (Ken) Dodd of Flint, Texas, and Marilyn (John) Gingerich of Arthur, Ill.; four stepsons, Clayton (Thelma) Nisly of Ecuador, Wilbur (Grace) Nisly of Corvalis, Mont., Marlin (Lucille) Nisly of Victor, Mont., and Ronald (Beverly) Nisly of Hutchison, Kan.; 44 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Norma) Plank of Elida, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a daughter, Beverly Grimm; and three brothers, Floyd, Oren and Dwight Plank.

An area resident since 1991, Mr. Plank was a member of Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church.

He farmed and worked as a typesetter for Cyril Scott in Lancaster, Ohio, for 27 years. In his later years he was a driver for the Amish.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and again from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 21, at Pleasant Grove Church, 13463 C.R. 38, Goshen. The Saturday funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. The Pleasant Grove Ministry will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Goshen.

Memorials may be given to World Missionary Press.

Pletcher, Jerry E.

March 29, 1923 - May 29, 2015

GOSHEN - Jerry E. Pletcher, 92, of Goshen, died at 3:05 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Greencroft Healthcare.

He was born March 29, 1923, in Concord Township, to George W. and Myrtle V. (Bechtel) Pletcher.

He married Maxine (Loucks) Pletcher on June 27, 1946, in Elkhart.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine of Goshen; daughter Phyllis (Don) Shull of Bridgeman, Mich.; sons Dave (Suzanne) Pletcher of Warsaw and William Alex (Colleen) Pletcher of Elkhart; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Rosie (Lowell) Lambright of Middlebury; and sister-in-law Ocella Pletcher of Elkhart.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Morris, Luke and Ephraim Pletcher; and sister Clara Rupp.

Jerry worked at Miles Laboratory and was a farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Goshen, and he volunteered at Courtyard. He enjoyed bingo and was a proud supporter of his grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 31, and for an hour prior to the 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, service, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor Jim Shrock and Pastor Gregg Lanzen, both of First Baptist Church in Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery.

Preheim, Jess Branton
, 93, of Reedley, Fresno Co., CA died January 22, 2015 at the same place. He was born October 28, 1921 near Spivey, Kingman Co., KS to Jacob and Lydia Preheim. On March 8, 1952 he was married to Evaline Heppner, who was born November 22, 1925 and survives.

Surviving are a daughter, Kristy Preheim (Jeff Boers); daughter-in-law, Paula Preheim; 4 grandchildren, and siblings, Kenne Preheim; Fred (Helmi) Preheim; June (Jack) Biggers; and Phyllis (Carl) Mattingly.

A son, Scott Preheim and 2 brothers preceded him in death.

He and his wife opened Preheim's Jewelry in 1956 and were part of Downtown Reedley for 58 years.

Memorial services were held January 30, 2015 at First Mennonite Church, Reedley, CA with burial in Reedley Cemetery, Reedley, CA.
